Disaster Flood Relief Program
Since 1996, church groups and other non-profit organizations throughout the U.S. including The Fuller Center for Housing, United Way, Hurricane Katrina Organizations and Habitat for Humanity use New Hope Construction’s complete energy efficient pre-framed house packages for their projects.
NHC’s Seniors at Home Program (SAH), implemented in 2007, provides very low-income and homeless seniors living in substandard conditions a new energy efficient volunteer built house.
With grants, fundraisers, donations and volunteers, 42 Tennessee families have been provided with a SAH house, 31 have been completed in the past 18 months, with a 30 year interest free mortgage and no down payment or closing costs.
Over half of the current 42 FEMA disaster counties in Tennessee have no habitat affiliate or have limited housing options. Thanks to donations since the flood of 2010, one senior family in Perry County, TN, will soon move into their new volunteer built 2 bedroom/1 bathroom house.
To expand the SAH Program into all FEMA designated disaster counties surrounding Davidson County in Tennessee, New Hope Construction needs your financial support. Your tax deductible donation will provide safe, energy efficient, volunteer built housing and New Hope for our seniors in need.
To qualify for the Seniors at Home Disaster Flood Relief Program (SAHDFR):
· Must be 55 years old and living in inadequate conditions or (homeless)
· Income below 50% of area median and the ability to repay a no-interest mortgage (mortgage, insurance and property taxes not to exceed 27% of income)
Approved, eligible or qualified applicants that have or will receive FEMA Grant and/or SBA funds for housing, can still qualify for the SAHDFR Program but will be limited to the funding gap amount.
